YES, you would need to be a registered and insured student with an affiliated AUSTKD member club to ensure you as a competitor are insured with Player Accident cover (PA) at competitions within Australia that abide by the WT rules and regulations.
NO, a National Athlete License (NAL) with AUSTKD is not required to enter our events.
YES, as it is compulsory for all competitors to be members of AUSTKD and members of an AUSTKD club and provide their member number when entering our Taekwondo events. In addition, we operate all of our Taekwondo events in-line with current World Taekwondo guidelines, rules and regulations and keep to the high standards of the national body for the safety and fairness of all in attendance.
YES, you will need current Kyorugi Performance Coach Accreditation with AUSTKD to coach at our Taekwondo events and all coaches accreditation will be checked upon entry to any of our events around Australia. Ensuring coaches are accredited with the national body ensures a safer event for all as the AUSTKD coaching accreditation requires various courses, documentation, Working With Children Check and First Aid + CPR in order to be granted accreditation, so it is in the best interest of all to have only AUSTKD accredited coaches on court.
YES, you will need a minimum of Level 4 AUSTKD Referee Accreditation to officiate at our Taekwondo events to ensure all officials on court conduct themselves in-line with the AUSTKD code of conduct and operate with fairness and with consideration to safety for all involved on court.
YES, all of our Taekwondo events operate in-line with the national body's (AUSTKD) interpretation of the current World Taekwondo (WT) guidelines, rules and regulations at that time – this allows our developmental competitions to maintain continuity with state and national tournaments, keeping with high standards of sport integrity and safety for all participants.
YES, all of our Taekwondo events use either KPNP, Daedo or both for the purposes of electronic scoring and protection for athletes and this is in-line with World Taekwondo rules and regulations and the Olympic sporting standard.
YES, all competitors must follow current WT guidelines as it relates to protective equipment – see the complete list of 2025 WT recognised brands as published on the WT website. Athletes of all ages not wearing WT approved protective gear on court will be disqualified. An exception to this rule is that athletes are permitted to wear their club dobok or competition dobok, even if it is not WT approved, as long as it meets the standards of Kukkiwon Taekwondo uniforms (v-neck, white or black collar, no coloured doboks on court for Kyorugi, must be all white, top and bottom).
YES, however for hygiene reasons hiring protective gear is limited to shin guards and forearm guards only. Hire fees are $10 for shin guards and $10 for forearm guards with a $50 bond required. Groin, hand guards and eSocks are not available for hire but are available for purchase through us prior to the event and/or on the day at our adidas combat sports booth. Contact us if you need further assistance with your equipment.
